I am on the market for a take it to the grave car. I still want to get a V8 before they all go away. I got my eye on a used Lexus is500. Very last sports sedan in existence that you can buy with a V8. If you were on the market for a final car you could drive until death that’s under 60k what are you looking at? I love Teslas but ya electric ain’t for me.

But the main Q here is, modern or older, if is newer am between the coyote 5.0 of the mustang or the monster srt engine of the charger, talking about cars.

I've owned a 5.0 old 95 mustang, love that even when that stuff drained my wallet, as the 5.9l of the dodge ram that I still own

Any car but keep in mind like this is the end of the road. So long term reliability is also a factor. Shoot if I could go back in time I would buy another 2002 black or red WS6 trans am I had 4 and all of them gave me issues but I loved the car regardless lol. The 90s and early 2000s was the best year for performance cars and trucks, the SRT 10 ram single cab and Ford lightning was amazing.

Get a diesel. More torque, better mileage, lasts longer...

The world will be moving freight over the road with diesel trucks for the next 50+ years, won't have to worry about lack of availability of fuel.
yeah, i'll go for cummins is a had a chance, but the funny car will be the ones I chose above

I was going to say the new V8 Land Rover Defender until I saw your less than 60k requirement.

Actually if I could I would buy a mid 90s 110 Defender and swap a more reliable V8 into it and do a more modern interior.

If you are keeping it a long time it's difficult to beat a Lexus/Toyota. I have a 2010 Sequoia and a 2010 Tundra with a supercharger so I'm definitely a fan. The Sequoia is great for highway cruising and is really comfortable with independent front and rear suspension. And of course the Tundra can move a lot of cargo relatively. And Land Cruisers are a bit smaller than either of those, but have the same 5.7l. they're just known for long term durability and are a bit better off-road.

It all really depends on what you want.

There are a lot of good coyote Mustangs out there as well as Cameros if you want affordable power and handling (and a manual). A newer Mach 1 mustang has a good amount of options for performance, as well as the preferable tremac manual transmission, but those are probably up there in price.

I've always wanted to try a Lexus RCF, which look great for cruising in comfort.

No doubt that Toyota/Lexus make great engines.

I think the more recent issue is the fact they are slapping turbos and twin turbos on V6s and what their long term reliability is.

Theyve already had a significant issue with the waste gate on the v6 turbos on the Tundra. Imagine whats going to happen at 100k or 200k

What I will say is the new Lexus GX550 looks amazing and seems to be the new luxury Land Cruiser. I'm going to keep my eye on it. I really like how they decided to bring back the square body. 350HP and 479lbs of torque is solid. I hope the turbos don't have issues though.

I also heard they plan to offer a Toyota Land Cruiser in the USA again. I will be looking at that as well.

They both look great.

I love the WS6, IT has a look that is timeless. I had a 97 Camaro in the 2000's and was in a F-body club that did a lot of drag racing and SSCA racing. Was a lot of fun.

Niiiice!!! That’s a super clean whip. I’m in a 2021 es350 UL and while it’s the nicest car I have owned I am very tempted to dip my toes into the V8 pool. There’s so many other cars out there but something about a good old V8 sending those subtle vibrations through the steering wheel that puts a smile on my face. My first Fbody was a 96 trans am convertible, it was not the fastest car but sounded amazing with a borla cat back. Then the LS1s came out and those raped the market for awhile, unless you had a 03 cobra those terminators with basic bolt ons were monsters. Fastest cars I had was a 2010 grand sport vett and a 05 gto. Now I’m in a Japanese car… I want a Time Machine.

I came very very close to getting a TRD pro in that army green color I still want one with that 5.7. I just know all these gas hogging naturally aspirated toys are going bye bye so get one now or forever hold your peace. My dad had a RCF I drove for a bit and I loved it. I think the GSF is one of my all time favorites. Worst part about it is the 8 speed not liking to downshift like daddy wants it to.

Oh yeah, I meant the used ones with the V8s. I'm sure the reliability of the turbo hybrid systems will get dialed in but I am not tempted to buy any of those new. Maybe I could swing it but I prefer having my fleet of slightly older vehicles with different specialties. (Wrangler 2 door Rubicon and a mustang gt also)

The army green used to bother me but I really like it now. My Toyotas are both boring grey haha

My favorite is the bright blue, but I also like any of the other TRD pro special colors.

I wonder if there's a tune for the RCF transmissions. a lot of autos are technically better these days but still, it's nice to have the option to row your own.

I use to be a huge fan of black but damn is it a pain in the ass to maintain that color and have OCD at the same time. I like to try and clean my car once a week it’s like a form of therapy. No kids and never married so the car gets all the love. If I was president it would be a law to make all car manufacturers have at least 4 layers of clear coat baked on especially living in Texas where this heat just rocks your paint over time.
