Testing your internet connection

I am using the ASUS AiMesh for my house, I have an ASUS RT-AC88U as my core router in the office (office PC's including the gaming rig are hardwired) , then I have two other routers (cheaper ) in the house to serve as access points. AiMesh treats clients similar to how enterprise wireless systems behave, they will roam from access point to access point and balance the clients across nodes while still remaining on the same subnet / DHCP range. It gets the job done, I have 3 xboxes that stream wirelessly , all the other tablets and laptops, security cameras etc..

a mesh type system is almost a must if you have multi floors and a lot of clients, streaming is my main feed to all my TV's I do not have Cable, my daily download traffic is generally between 30-60Gb and I'm never waiting for anything to stream / load. I will say occasionally the nodes have to be rebooted, after all they are computers as well. I'm pretty happy with my current setup

Here is a link to how AiMesh works, I'm sure there are other consumer based products that do the same, the only other reference point I have is Cisco's enterprise wireless but then were talking wireless controllers that are cost prohibitive for consumer and a steep learning curve if you are not a Cisco wireless engineer.

I capped my download speed and upload speed. My bufferbloat score is an A. You can test it in game like I did in the settings. Its saying my issue is on the upload back to the server. Says im occasionally dropping packets. I actually think its an issue serverside. Ive run a variety of test and determined that Im not dropping any packets anywhere else.

How do you cap the download speed and upload speed? How can I test it in game or what settings I need to change??

Now that you changed to a private network see if you can run dslreports.com.

To limit your uplaod and download speed you need to get into your router settings and go into Qos and set a limit of 85% of your max.

That's not true. They cannot control what you do with the data before it reaches your modem, unless they own the router as well and have it locked down. If that the case, start using the gaming router you said you have. I would never use a router given to me by the cable company. Optimum tries to do that and has custom software. I rejected it.
