Hi all. Try this SourceForge Speed Test site for testing your connection. It's similar to the DSL Reports site some of us were using a while back when the discussion about bufferbloat was of interest.

I did some reading and discovered that having a fast download and upload isn't nearly important as having low latency/ping, packet loss and low bufferbloat.

I'm on Rogers Cable here in Toronto, their connections and routers have a known issue with bufferbloat. I'm going to buy a router today that allows the user to change the QoS (Traffic Shaping). It's not a perfect solution and after making the changes I'll post my findings for those of you interested.

My current Speed Test results (using just the router from my ISP - Hitron CODA-4582).

Not a bad site very in-depth, but i still favor speedtest.net for simplicity. If anyone is curious though I use Spectrum for my ISP here in the US. As for the router I have an old Netgear WNDR4300 N750.

Wow Animal and Panda you guys have some serious bufferbloat...I'm using an Asus RT-AC68U and although I have played around a bit with QOS setting's I still think the bloat is more of an ISP problem. I did slow my speeds down to about 80% when I was having disconnect problem's and it seemed to help for awhile.
But I still get the odd "connection to server lost"
I have also played around with a couple of these setting's mostly the first one https://www.zerodollartips.com/increase-internet-speed-windows-10/

Hi Adios.

You're right about the BufferBloat (BB). That's why I purchased a router that can adjust the QOS.
After making a few changes, not sure what the % I slowed the DL rate at but it reduced the BB a fair amount.
I also agree that the issue is mainly the ISP fault as I read many complaints from customers in my service area that are experiencing the same.
Might have to switch ISP's to see if it makes a difference.

Below the first pic is a screenshot of the test with full DL/UL speeds through the ISP router. The second pic is through the TP router that I purchased with reduced DL speeds.
The jitter and bufferbloat readings are significantly lower.
I've noticed that web pages actually load and navigate faster and smoother than before. As for the gameplay, I will see after a few rounds if it actually improves the lag.

Latency / ping: 29 MS
DOWNLOAD SPEED: 484 Mbps
UPLOAD SPEED: 42.4 Mbps
POCKET LOSS: 0%

I use the same provider as SPaRkl3pFaRTS. K.

I just have a lot more security! Which package are you on? I just have the 300 but was thinking about going to the 1Gps.

I have never noticed any connection quality degradation due to bufferbloat, so I won't be tweaking mine at all. I can still host servers on my connection, use 10+ other devices and never lose connection nor have my ping raise in games.

Edit: Looking at my router's QoS Setup, here are the defaults:

man I don't get it. with Oolka down and up load are about the same but with SourceForge Speed Test download is really low vs upload which is very high. download is 162 mbps and upload is 771 mbps.
