So my brother in law had an i7-6700 and mobo left over from a client who upgraded.

Previously I was gaming on an i5-4690k with DDR3 ram.

Slapped it in. So, my new build is the i7-6700 Asus mobo and DDR4 ram. Same RX480.

The reviews online said that there was basically no difference between the two chips for gaming with either BF4 or BF1.

Boy were they wrong. Maybe the DDR4 helps too but Im seeing 20-30 FPS more with the i7 in both BF1 and BF4.

I may hold off on getting another 1080ti or possibly a 2080ti unless another game comes out that I fancy.

Those gains might be a little exaggerated.

I realized I wasn't playing with ReLive recording on. Still a bump up though.

well in my case all i have is a i3 and gtx 750 ti, 4 gb ram 19" generic monitor generic mouse and keyboard, and stillkick some ass :glee:

Yeap those i7 makes a huge difference... Am trying for a new PC, hopefully I'll start assembly next week, Soo am off duty till the pieces arrive, I will go for a ryzen it 3600 with 16gb ddr4 3600mhz B motherboard and 144hz monitor from an unknown manufacturer called yeyian or something hahahaha

That chip is a beast.

Good luck on the build

I'm going to delid my 8700k and put a copper IHS on it and see if I can get the temp's down...I shut my OC off for now...also thinking of water cooling my 1080ti it run's HOT

I've heard thats risky. What temps and cooler are you running with the 8700k now?

How hot does the 1080ti get? Your GPU can sustain much higher temps compared to your CPU.

CPU is using some kind of Alienware cooler...I got a delidding tool coming from Rockit Cool along with the copper IHS looks easy enough LoL ...the cpu is idling around 40C but I have seen it in the 80's C gaming. I think it should be cooler idling ...from everything I have seen redoing the thermal paste with a liquid metal type and using the copper IHS it usually drops temp's 20 to 30 degree's C
The 1080ti is running in the mid to high 80's C when in game it idles in the high 40's C it's not one of the 1080ti's with the built in heat sink and it's a single fan it's not even a good single fan it's one of those water wheel piece's LoL

Thats too hot for a CPU. I idle in the high 20s and when gaming hit low 70s. I have a cool master AIO with a single heatsync and fan. I guess if I was gaming for hours it may hit mid 70s.

Those temps arent bad for the 1080ti but AIO water would help.

Get some Artic MX-4 and a good cooler problem gone.... Or use the Artic Silver 5 which has been on every build in recent history with zero problems.....
