CPU Processor woes

i want gpu for that but can do with mod if i follow up :highly_amused:

i love any kind of Mod out there ..

I put that heatsink fan the new processor can with to good use. Put it behind my PSU to suck out the hot air. Will see tomorrow when the Artic thermal compound comes in.

Gah!!!! Can into computer room this morning and hit the switch. NADA! No monitor display and no G15 keyboard display. Something very wrong! Worried I might have to buy new MoBo or new computer. Decided to do a reset and computer came back up.

So, how long do these CR2032 batteries last? Had this computer for several years now.

Usually, at my work we change the battery every 5 years

THIS is what you need.

I have one and it is quieter and COOLER than my old Swittech H320 three fan water cooler. CPU is OC'd @ 4.4Ghz

The battery is cheap. Why not just change it?

As for CPU cooling, I switched from those large types of coolers that Akula linked to an AIO water coolers and never thought of going back.

My OC'd i7-4790K @ 4.6GHz runs between 75-80c on the cores and very quiet with a Corsair H60 (push/pull setup). It also cost considerably less than the NH-D15.
I also like the fact they take up a lot less room near the RAM sticks.

It depends which you prefer as most coolers in that price range will be an improvement over stock.

I started a thread a while back on AIO water coolers here when I was looking to replace the H55.

Are you still having temperature issues?

Animalll, I went back to my old processor for time being. I did do make a change to the heat sink and fan assembly. Noticed where the fan attaches to the heat sink air was blowing out the sides. So i added some masking tape front and back to direct more air through fins. I'm thinking the fan is too low on power to move enough air through the heat sink. If I put my hand just above the heat sink I can barely feel any air moving out.

Animal let me try 4.6 and see what temps i get on my little monster ;)

Got 4.7 but Asus suite software backed it off to 4.5... so far getting 72 degrees steady in BF4, and no worrying about water, pump motor or leaks.... I've tried closed systems and refillable.... Not my cup of tea and not worth it. Even "no maintenance closed loop" systems fail. I had 2 fail on me and RMA'd both. I sold the replacement and got a Noctua.... They are sooooooo quiet and easy to install... If you have the space for it. Mid towers will be tight but I have a full tower and it's OK.

That's decent. I see some i7's hitting 5GHz but at 4.7 I'm at 1.3v already. I'm thinking to grab a beefier Corsair unit later on when I get bored.

I wouldn't use the Asus software to control the OC. I've tried it but the software really is shit so I do all the setting through the bios.

But my case is a Corsair Carbide 240 cube style in a mATX from factor so I can't use a giant HS like that anyways.

Akula, what CPU and board?
