Speaking of older folks, we met two gentleman today at the bar. Both retired military veterans, one from Michigan and one from Florida. They were very sympathetic to us once they learned we’re Canadian . We told him we voted for the other guy but he lost so one bought us a round of beers and we toasted to becoming 51st state
I hope to see Sicily someday. Lots of history. Even the Normans rolled thru there almost a thousand years ago. They would conquer a city then use the carrier pigeons and blood of the defenders to send notes and terrorize their other targets

At least they gave them a heads up
Yeah, I enjoy that old history. So far about 1/3 of Pompeii has been excavated and they decided to leave the rest covered as a respect for the dead.
I visited Pompeii back in 1990 as a senior in high school and I'm still blown away by it. Also went to Naples/Sorrento (stayed here)/Capri, then took an overnight ferry to Mikonos, then the Greek mainland for Delphi and Athens. That's such a fantastic corner of the world, I definitely hope to go back some day.

did some of that last fall for my 25th anniversary. Started in Portugal and hit Cadiz, Malaga, Valencia, Barcelona, Palma De mallorca, MonteCarlo/Nice, Pisa and finally Rome. That is a fantastic trip! Have fun!
