The asshole in me thinks, Well, maybe thinning the gene pool ain't so bad a thing--but, obviously, there are pandemic possibilities across a larger population ...
But I'm cautiously optimistic to see such a chink in that otherwise hard to phase denial armor of theirs.
Interestingly, I heard an NPR story about the Hasidim community in NYC--and though they have had issues with vaccination historically, based on a certain reading of scripture/law, even they (or at least leadership) sounded like they were beginning to bend to public health recommendations on the subject. The spokesperson (a top rabbi) said something like, "We won't be having any problems with non-compliance."
Maybe he's planning on tricking them into it?
Somebody should tell him: "Silly Rabbi, tricks are for kids."
(sorry--everything prior to those last two lines was not intended as a dumb joke)
