Ordered new Digital Storm Rig

It is funny how much the video cards affect the price. Almost everything else is commodity save for the processor which can be pricey. I buy about once every 7 years and do minor upgrades in between which really means I upgrade the video card. My boys play on the 2007 quad core rig and it suits them just fine for gaming. The only real change I would like is a gsync monitor since my LG 34 in Ultrawide only gets 30 hz refresh. Great for working, not so great for gaming. 3440x1440 is pretty sweet resolution. Edited to add that the Digital Storm guys are great and the support from them and their forum has been very helpful.

Yeah, you can use system monitoring tools to determine if you are processor bound , very few games are processor bound I can usually go through 2 video cards before I need to start looking at the processor and MB. I don't do anything else intensive with the machine , maybe encoding some BF4 videos but office work and some web and that's about it.. I am at that point now where I'm itching for a new Video card just because I'm getting the itch...

The biggest bang for your buck is the video card upgrade, I went from an old AMD 8 core FX-8350 4Ghz which every gamer bad mouthed and touted how it was better to get an i5 Intel to an Intel i7 4790K 4Ghz.. but before I upgraded my MB and processor I did stick the Nvidia 1080 in that case.. I'll be honest I picked up a few frames but nothing to truly justify the $600 in new processor and MB ... I feel to this day like that AMD FX-8350 was the best bang for the buck processor I ever put in a buld.. The video card is the game 90% of the time..

That list has everything but price? How much since you have $3000 just in video cards......... :)

Dude you have to get two 4K 144HZ or one, with a 2nd 2k for your mini map, been looking at a similar set up for awhile now but havent been on as much as I use to be. The SLI with slay two 4k's with 144HZ that would be bad ass.

Im old school, I cant work with 2 monitors, i spend half my time looking for courser ..

This is what i got for new PC 34" 100mhz.. have not used it yet. Waiting for new Computer to show up. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C83BE6U/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

that is some serious horse power, I'm a rig builder, I do a new one about every 4-5 years and I always try to reuse what I can (case , PSU , Monitor, keyboard, mouse, headphones, etc..) I usually try to stay in the $2500 range if I can..

Since I play BF4 mostly right now there is no real driver I'm getting a solid 90FPS on a 4K g-sync / Nvidia 1080 SC , I can't notice anything over 60FPS in all honesty ...

What is your HZ and response on your 4k?

Thats great dude. You may want to get a higher refresh like 144hz. I just got a 2k refresh 144hz 1ms response it is smoth much morse so then the 4k 60hz which I use as my 2nd now for mini map. Go to Youtube and really look at the diff between 100hs 144hz and 240hz 1ms response reviews.

I work/game mostly from home. I often have to jump out of games mid game due to work.

Last few years I have been gaming on Best Buy Cyber Power PC, Before that i normally built my own computers. This time I figured i go nuts and buy the best I could afford from Digital Storm.

Awesome rig man.

When I chose my 34" monitor it was a split between your choice, the Asus PQ348Q (100hz), and the LG 34UC89G-B (144hz), the Alienware AW3418DW (100hz/120hzOC), or the Alienware AW3418HW (144hz/160hzOC).

Because I had an ACER 27" Gsync 144hz monitor for a couple years I didn't want to go backwards.

So then, after many hours of studying specifications, reading reviews, and checking screen features, dimensions, every damn thing you can think of I narrowed it down the the LG and the Alieneware AW3418HW.
https://www.displayspecifications.com/en

I eventually chose the AW3418HW for 2 specific reasons:

  1. I couldn't bring myself to go from 144hz back to anything less
  2. My eyesight isn't what it used to be and 2560x1080 seemed a better fit for me than 3440x1440 (I checked both screens at Fry's)

I simply love this beast with its cool lighting and super sturdy stand.

But I came darn close to getting the Asus. In fact, I bid on one on ebay and narrowly missed winning the bid, or I'd be looking at that right now.
