Check the opening for the laser. Sometimes it can have a small amount of dust, lint, hair, food, kitty litter and such reducing its functionality

I use an Allsop advanced mouse pad constructed from exotic metal (aluminum) with a next gen space-age polymer surface (plastic). Partnered with my 7 year old G700s cordless mouse. (changed the button switches 3x and the pads 2x).
