My Geforce 1070 card has gone belly up!

Been getting game drops to desktops lately and yesterday I couldn't even get in game with out some sort of DirectX error crashing to desktop. And this after a fresh reboot each time.

Tried installing a fresh driver update, but it rails to load. Uninstalled my old driver for a clean install and that failed. My old driver i was using, 466.47, fails to install now. I'm suspecting it may be the onboard memory. I can browse the internet ok and watch YouTube videos. Just can not join a game.

Still have my old 560 card that has 2 gigs of onbaord ram so I need to install that one.

Anyone knows of a good site that repairs these video cards?

Sorry to hear that gunny.

I know a guy from another discord that buys broken cards to see if he can fix them. Ill ask him.

At least GPU prices have started to drop and there is actually stock available.

Has this only happened during BF4?

Have you tried running a stress test like Unigine or Furmark?

Update: Thought the spare card was a 560 Ti, but turns out to be a PNY 950. Tried a drive install on it and it failed.

So, problem must be power supply or the mother board has a problem.

I guess its good you figured out it wasnt the card. A power supply or MoBo will cost a lot less.

I've had a bad PS in the past. Comp would just randomly shut off when gaming. Very frustrating.

But it is odd that the card runs and displays good resolution. If it was a power supply, then I would assume I would get no screen.

Did a search on where the drivers are insalled in. One guy said the driver is in the OS and on the main disc. Is it possible that this new WIndows 10 update has messed up my graphics drivers? I noticed that on both my laptop and desktop has a new bootup screen just before the login screen.

Nope. Your GPU pulls different watts depending on what its doing. You can boot up and have the GPU operating at low wattage and run fine. But when that GPU starts pulling more watts than the PS can handle it will crash. Thats what would happen to me.

Honestly its a good starting point. Especially if you can get on that has a refund policy.

Seems I got a week more to wait for that MoBo. Probably wont be sent out until Tuesday and I'll get it next Friday. For you shutins, that will be in June.

Got the MoBo in today. It was used, but i was informed by their techs it would work. Still same problem. I used the CPU and memory that came with the used board.

Maybe the power supply? The power plug going to the video card reads 12 volts. Maybe some other power going to the MoBo if failing?

Got a new power supply in today. Alot stronger. Installed and I get the same results. Driver download fails. If I open up the Device Manger and click on 'Other" it show a VGA device. When I do an update on it it browes the internet for driver and finds the GeForce 1070 adapter, but wont install because of not enough memory. My Ram druing this time shows 40% usage.

Took desktop to local PC repair shop. Get charged $75 up front because it is a White Box meaning it is not a brand computer. A built computer. He looks computer over and says my problem is not enough memory on C drive. With a 120gig SD drive I have 22 gig left over. He wants to install new one for an extra $45. I suspect foul play.

He says it may also be bad MoBo drivers. I says i can check that at home cause I still have the moBo CD with installation on it. He does a virus check and finds PC_Tools virus and an adware virus. Cleared them up. Had to go home so i took computer and tried installing drivers again. No luck.

Having my son in law do a online check of my computer in a few days. He is moving with my grand daughter to a new home.

I just wonder if there is a setting on the MoBo for allowing a graphics card. Did not see anything.

So, back to watching porn reruns of Redkiller and Simpson.

If your SSD is in the red that can affect the stability of your system. 120 GB is not all that much. $45 is not a bad price for a new SSD, but you'd have to see what brand and size it is.

Do you mean you can't install driver for 1070 ?

( sorry , i am so tired now , working 3rd shift )

Have you try using DDU and do 2 time / what driver you trying to install ?

Send me error picture / i have once that happen but all good right now ( my brother has )

In device , try uninstall list GPUthat is grey / delete folder Nvidia ( there are few of it like i did before )

Let me know /

Some ssd bad or corrupt

The lack of memory doesn't sound like a ram issue but a storage issue. The more recent Nvidia drives and accompanying software run about 650-700MBs. So you would actually need close to 2 GBs free to do the install. Its the download, the unpacking and the installed drivers and software.

Can you share a screenshot of your storage. RIght click on my computer, go to properties and then to storage on the left hand side.

A 120GB SSD is not a lot of storage at all. Especially if its partitioned for backups.
