I was banned for speaking GRINGO.

Wiki say that gringo means foreign. And no server i was baned by players, who sayed that GRINGO means RACIST. I am so ass or GOOGLE what is is saying that gringo is racism?!

I understand your opinion, more here comes to this and each country. I do not bias about these nicknames. in fact my country has the least problem with racial issues. GRINGO is a general term. that is, I do not know him anymore, I know he's a foreigner.

this means that this server rule is totally racial. because they understand that the word refers to the ORIGIN of the person. being that in other countries it is but of Foreign.
 
Bro I am sorry you got vote banned for the term GRINGO. Cringo is not a term of disrespect but a term for white people. I rather like the term as I grew up in a neighborhood with many Mexican Americans and when they address us as gringo it was a term of respect. This vote ban has gotten out of control flagellant racial slurs should be address I agree but know what an insult is before you do a vote ban.............Now get of my lawn you fucking wetbacks............See how fast it can get out of line. I apologize to all my friends that may take offense to that as I was only trying to set an example.
 
Just curious as to why you used the term in the first place. Unlike Stryker, I have heard that term used more often as a term of disrespect. I have lived all over the world and been south of the border more times than I can count and assure you Gringo is used more as a term of disrespect. Back to my first point...why are you using that term? Keep your comments to the game at hand and guess what...you won't be here trying to explain yourself.

if you go to the last two words of the Wikipedia definition you will see the term is used "sometimes disparagingly". Maybe it's my age but I am still trying to figure out why players feel they have to call people names while playing.
 
One final comment. I was recruited by a Brazilian squad a couple of years back to tank for them in some tournaments. They called me Gringo but used it to convey their respect.
 
Unlike McDeath I prefer to take Gringo just to mean white skinned people. If you hunt far enough you can make almost any word derogatory. So I don't think the guy meant it in a hurtful manner. So get over it and play the game. So all you fucking gringos spicks niggas waps slopes kikes and any others that I am to tired to think get off my fucking lawn................STRYKER. BYW the above contains Am-egos that happen to be Gringos..........lmao

Exactly, I live in Brazil. I had no idea that in other places the term refers to an offense. It's new to me too. at any moment I wanted to offend someone on the server, since I only played on the server for a long time. If I spoke, I'm sorry because I did not know.

yes, here we usually call people from outside gringo. because we do not know the name, so GRINGO would be. which refers to FRIEND.
 
I am not bored by the fact of the voteban, but rather amazed by the word to have another significant to other countries. in fact I'm even content to learn things. more in relation to the vote comand, I believe that they should increase the number of acceptance. because it took 3 people to accept to be accepted.

For fuck sake STRYKER. You are basically Walk Kowalski (Clint Eastwood) from Gran Torino. Although you're voice is a little more intimidating. Interestingly enough he had a close relationship with a sheep too that in my opinion they didnt explore enough. If you haven't seen the movie, go watch it. Its really good.
 
It does tend to be white folks that get called gringo here in southern California, I guess--but, yeah, it's closer to a term of endearment, a la negrito--something far afield from the N-word.

If anything gabacho is the pejorative version rightly construed as fightin' words ... or vote-ban worthy.

I do find it amusing that a server population that allows a fair amount of rough and tumble epithets (thankfully avoiding the abusive, heavy-handed, omniscient arbiter filter approach) apparently got momentarily prissy about a harmless word generally conveyed (among friends, especially) with real affection--i.e. con cariño.

But, as Cooper said in The Virginia, "Ya wanna call me that--smile ...." ...

... context and history and tone (and whether you're packing) has everything to do with, um ... how you're received, I guess.
