Hall of Shame

Nope, I am not. I do not run any third party programs that enhance anything for my game play. The best advise I can give right now is if you are using any 3rd party software (anything that didn't come with the game install) get rid of it until this is resolved.

The odd thing is, only 1 person in 10 caught cheating with that violation has appealed. And that was Gemslee. Nobody is appealing them, or they are bitching about it where no one can do anything about it.

I run purely only bf4 or EA software only. I’d never add anything else. The only thing that’s running that could possible get picked up is the Corsair and Razor software to run mouse and keyboard. That’s only to program the LED lights. :)

I wouldn't consider MSI afterburner 3rd party software as its usually packaged with the MSI video drivers. It's basically a GUI for the cards BIOS that allows you to overclock etc. I've run it in the past but only got a 5% clock increase and didn't think the extra heat and fan speed were worth it.

MSI Afterburner is a monitoring and bench-marking program. It's like Windows resource monitor but a little more detailed. It does not enhance gameplay at all.

I just got word from PBBANS. The bans are valid and not false positives.

"it is an Even Balance detection/violation. apparently they have not given up even though EA has."
"there has been no hint of these being false positives"

A small part of me was hoping they were false positives. But they are now confirmed.

The Hall of Shame will return

Therefore... ban wave. That’s why there have been so many. People have been using it and it was undetectable for a long time ...until now

"I swear it's Afterburner!" Have these programs been updated recently or something? Either way, that's more something MSI has to take up with EB, rather than the players, innocent or otherwise. Of course, they could all be spewing shit too, which would be even more amusing.

I have been hesitant to put the hall of Shame back up. However EB is sticking to their guns. They are sending the same response to everyone who got caught (allegedly)

PB response below, (Evenbalance)

We do not find this violation to be triggered in error, and it will not be removed.

The supplied GUID has been associated with hacking or interfering with the normal operation of our PunkBuster software and has therefore been compromised resulting in a global ban from PunkBuster enabled game servers. We have no way of knowing who was actually playing with this GUID at the time the violation was triggered. We also have no way to know if the violation was triggered on your specific computer. Our system does not collect personal information and furthermore we have no way to attach a cheat/hack violation to a specific person. This ban will not be lifted as then the person who did trigger the violation would again be able to join PunkBuster Servers using this GUID.

To be clear: we are not saying that you cheated as we have no way to know who triggered the violation. If it is certain that no one playing on your computer ever had a cheat/hack violation triggered by PunkBuster, then your GUID (cdkey and/or game account password) has been stolen by or leaked to someone who has used it on a different computer to trigger the violation. We do not have the means to help you find out who is responsible for compromising your GUID.

Oh well. Let's hope there's not something more sinister going on here and it's either just a bunch of cheaters getting caught, or a bad flag. It would be bad if there was mass GUID theft going on.

Enlightening about the transfer-ability of a GUID.

On a side note were out forums hacked or is the new skin part of Pride Month? Whenever I try and change it, it goes back to rave purple.
