Towards nearing the end of some games, why are some saying not to spawn? What's the idea behind that?

On Conquest, spawning costs your team a ticket. There is a rare occasion where if no one spawn at the end of a very close match, not spending those tickets is enough to win you the game. But it doesn't happen very much anymore, so I think people mostly joke about it now.
It works when the game is very close, and you have more flags so the other team has ticket bleed.
Basically reliant on those left alive to hold the majority of the flags, while running down the clock.
Very situational, have seen it work when the team is dialed in.

Ya it worked two nights ago when my team lost with 3 tickets left. Can't get much closer than that!
I think the deal is that after you have died, no ticket is taken away from your team side until you respawn. So when It is really close is when I pipe in "Dont spawn!"

We also yell don't spawn at a few specific people in order to better society.
And this kids underscores the importance of medics. Not only does reviving get someone back into the game and close to the action, it keeps your team from losing a ticket.
