Current rig

My rig just went the way of the dodo as my motherboard (I think) decided it was time to die. I need to figure whether to spend for a new one or try to salvage the current. it is my main computer which I use all the time so likely will buy a newer one just for better tech. video card will likely be 1/3 of the cost. :nightmare:

Is the rest salvageable?

Whats your CPU/GPU?

Might wanna hold a bit to see if the prices of DDR4 RAM drops. The tech giants in Korea have been collaborating in pricing, supplying, and doing other Anti-Trust Act stuff.

Well, good news is I found the issue and it was a very cheap fix. the CMOS battery needed replacement and the system wouldn't post without the battery. Found that fix on some old youtube video which was a bit weird but worth a $5 try. I have a i7-4790K which is LGA 1150 and it is on a mini-itx board that isn't readily available except used from China. I have a 1080 GTX card and 16 GB DDR3 RAM so still holds up well. I expect I will get a few more years out of it before I get a new one assuming it doesn't die. Now, back to the game!!

Glad you found that fix and yeah your system should be solid for the next few years.

Is that the rumor?? I couldn't believe how much DDR4 is going for. 16Gigs is about the same price as a Ryzen 5 2600. Fucking crazy.

Thanks bro! A curved monitor really isn't all that special, with one downside and that is you need to kinda keep in centered. I do like being able to play BF4 from the comfort of the sofa though.

LOL I hear a lot of people play in the comfort of their sofa. I sit right in front of my monitor. If it was curved that wouldn't be an issue.
