Someone's flipped the lag switch and now I cant go 5 minutes without either having my ping spike to 1400 and getting kicked, or having a ping of 40 but rubberbanding all over the place or the entire game stopping. Anyone got any tips on how I can play again? I'm not even going to bother joining a server until I can fix this. Which sucks because that means I have to play more Pathologic 2 and that game makes me depressed. I heard the word nodes going around, I have no clue about networking so if that can help....

Did you try all the basics of rebooting your comp...
"Have you tried turning if off and on again?" Hahaha.
This has been persistent for 2 days, in which I have turned my PC off and on many times.
I will try restarting the modem (don't know why I didn't think of that). It is connected to the cable box, which is also having some issues, so I'll restart both.
These are the speedtest results before restarting anything. http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/62347373

Reminds me of helping my dad with a computer problem over the phone and 40 mins into trying to steer him to a specific folder got frustrated because he could not find it I asked him what was on the screen right now, he said it is still blank. Then he said "I don't need it turned on do I ?"

I meant it as an IT Crowd reference, but I figure that is the reason IT people always ask that question. They don't want to insult you by asking if it's turned on.

I mean the buffer bloat is not good but id make sure after rebooting your cable box and modem that all the connections are secured properly. I know that may sound dumb but you'd be surprised how many people over look that.

One common issue I have been having which was doing this to my game was when I went in task manager there would be some nonsense program running at 40% cpu usage. Otherwise a good ol router reset has fixed almost any issue I have been having, plus I recently switched to ethernet from wifi and it is a whole new world, do reccomend.

I'm not blaming the server. I think it is more likely network congestion. I have seen many other people complaining since self isolation started, and I've only had the problem for two days.

Yeah. Im not having an issue.

The lag Dan describes and high ping spikes are more likely a local machine issue or ISP issue.

I agree with the Fish... I was having shit lag last night after leaving for a few hours left game & restarted modem & pc - ran smooth as bullets moves after...
