ECM is marginally more advantageous over Flares, since it also prevents an immediate re-lock, which can happen if the locker can fennangle around the flares. ECM, however, doesn't redirect the missile away from the aircraft, so there's always that chance that it won't work, or RNG will fling the missile into you anyways.

In all seriousness, I did some more testing and it seems the recovery time of both EMC and Flairs are both the same at about 12.5 sec. EMC lasts a few seconds longer.
The only explanation for 3-5 seconds is seat swapping.
In all my time flying with other people and all the time Ive spent repairing Ive never had a conversation about seat swapping. That may also be because no one trusts me to fly :glee:
I think seat-swapping countermeasures is unnecessarily exploiting the game. If you have to do it to play well, then you're a bad player. At least in my books.
You could have 1 second ECM recovery with the Hind and it wouldn't help that beached whale..
yeah , I did some googling and nothing I could see about hacks for that well according to google anyway.. The AA's and tankers are so good on this server that there are very very few AH teams that can create serious havoc.. Put Mustbethetities and Gomer in the same AH and I'm sure you would see some insane results.. I flew with Mustbethetities in the AT once as gunner and his skills are insane, he rarely missed I felt like an ass because he nailed every tow and rocket and I was like oh if I fuck up this TV ... you only had one job....
Makes sense, and concludes what I have seen while flying, ECM is the only way to get away from Tank lock ons and AA mines , AA mines are generally trivial unless you don't have cover near by , since my flying style is low and fast with the Littlebird I can usually get to cover rep then get back over to A,B,C quicker than with ECM ..
I know I'm having a great round when all the Engineers at A,B,C start the round with RPG's and they have all switched over to anti-air by the end of the round.. It's a turkey shoot for any tanker at that point since all the side arms are trying to swat the flies in the sky ..

Titties, Xurec, Stogie, and 8bad8 are my go-to AH gunners. They're top-tier and they can actually keep up with my chaotic flying. I don't think I've ever seen Gomer so much as breath on an AH.
Oh I forgot about Stogie, very good with the tow regardless of vehicle .. I need to get my butt into the practice rage and learn how to use those tows.. you guys that are good at the tow, it's like a work of art and nothing I mean nothing gives you that surprise / scare factor than getting hit by a tow.. maybe the UCAV which I find hilarious every time I'm killed by it.. of which I think you nailed me with one while in the heli one day.. just instant death, what was thaaaa... oh that thing.. lol..
