Any car people?

Huge car guy here:

- First was a POS 1983 Toyota Corrolla
- 1980 VW Jetta which I used and abused during my Ski bum days, LOVED THAT CAR!!!
- 1982 VW Scirrocco. Discovered Whitewater kayaking with that car.
- 1986 VW Golf GTI. Fun and nimble little car
- 2002 Nissan Altima. First Brand new car I've EVER had. Roomy, comfortable and easy to drive but bland interior
- 2002 Audi A4. BEST CAR I'VE EVER HAD!!!! She even had a name, "GINGER". God I miss that car, pure fun!
- 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged. Currently my FIRST V8 and first Automatic transmission. Call sign; "ROVER". This 5,700lb monster is a fucking rocket!!!! 510HP 420ft/lb torque. Amazing power and pretty nimble for its weight, it's no Audi but it is a great car and best of all, it can hold 2 kayaks! :)

I actually prefer the older cars vs newer but newer cars DO have their perks.

Older cars are more user friendly. with my 02 Audi A4 I could change the plugs, change the oil, fuel filter, clean the MAF sensor. Almost anything was repairable and easy to get at.

On my latest the engine bay is so tight I can't even do the plugs. I can still do the oil changes myself and the filter change but thats about it. Fuel filter? FORGET IT!!!! It's imbedded into the fuel pump which sits between the rear seat and fuel tank with NO access port under the rear seat. You have to go under the car and remove the fuel tank just to get at the Pump/filter assembly.

The plus side of it is that I bought a 700 dollar scan tool and with it I was able to scan for codes while the car was on warranty and lets do the math here. 700 for the tool.... Scanned codes, pulled up a faulty compressor error, showed it to the dealership, compressor replaced on warranty, saved myself 3000 dollars in repairs HA!!!! :hail:

with the same tool I can adjust the height, set my FOB to raise and lower the windows, adjust the ride height, reset my service light, program new keys and tons more. They should make modern cars easier to work with so that the small maintenance items can be done easily vs, designing cars so that the smallest thing needs to be addressed at the dealer.

Nice ride's wiz.
Red like your 442 a friend had one very fast.
I've had a few over the years
57 chevy, 68 302 mustang, 93 z28, 1974 GTO with 455 (drag raced this car. best 1/4 mile 13.7) and my latest 2009 infiniti 3.7 v6 328 horse.

Red nice pinto :)

I am a Subaru guy, this is my 2nd WRX , first one back in 2002, Subaru 2.5 RS (2 Door) before that, a 2008 Legacy GT in-between... My first 2002 WRX made it to 279k still running in tip top shape when I sold it. This is my 2016, and it's my favorite. Power sliding around in the snow is a blast, drive it year round, room for the kids..

That’s a great picture do you off road as a hobby?

Ha!!! That was the first and LAST time I'll off road with Rover. Land Rover makes the BEST offroaders in the world. The biggest issue is the cost. A Jeep can do 90% of what any Land Rover can do and you can leave it dirty and muddy for months if you want. Nothing will happen. Try that with a Range Rover especially one from my generation and you'll have nothing but problems shortly down the road. This thing has so many gadgets and sensors that it's wired with Fibre Optic cable lol. The dirt accumulated after offloading easily gums up height sensors causing all sorts of suspension issues. Also, because it's a sport the exhaust sits pretty low ruining the clearance. I can raise the air suspension which is great but that day even with it raise all the way I still managed to dent one of the Catalytic converters. Fortunately there wasn;t much damage to the element inside but still, on a Range Rover it's a 2000 dollar part. OUCH!!!!

All this to say that the fun of offroading these things are best left to the YouTubers you'll see on the net. Great cars and very capable, just make sure you are off roading A) in desert conditions or extremely dry conditions or B) have deep pockets...... Of which I do not. The price to fill this mammoth is killing me hahaha.... But I still love it ;)

Of you want a TRUE off road vehicle, I hate to admit it but get a Jeep or a 4Runner or a Land Cruiser.

That’s dreadful having to take a car to the shop or dealership, you just know it’s going to be so expensive or something the warranty doesn’t cover... oh the engine blew up, was it parked in a garage or were you driving it, because the warranty only covers blown engines if it happens to blow up while parked in Santa Clause’s guest parking garage on the North Pole.. just bring us your parking garage stub and we will get that fixed right up otherwise it’s going to be ten grand...

Actually Land Rover was EXCELLENT with the warranty coverage. When I bought it in 2014 (it's a 2010) it had 18 months left on the Certified Pre-owned warranty which is a carbon copy of the Factory warranty and covers EVERYTHING. Anyways, I had a conversation with the service manager and he said anytime I am having an issue with the car just bring it in and chances are it will be covered under warranty and you know what? it WAS lol. To quote the SM "I have to problem running up the CPO warranty. We just send the claim to Land Rover". I must have brought that thing in at least 50 times and every single time whatever it was was covered 100% PLUS the loaner. I bought that car for 45k and racked up over 35k in warranty work... My first 18 months of ownership were painless :D
