AARP Server #2 Future

As we approach the second month for this server, I'd like to have a discussion if folks still want this server. This week the BF4 community is taking a serious kick in the rump due to the release of the BF5 beta. While I think it's mostly short lived and BF1 will take the biggest hit, our community will continue to shrink. BF5 mostly duplicates and improves BF1 experience but still is not a direct replacement for BF4 IMHO. Right now the BF4 PC community is chiseled to 10-14k of players roughly.

As of now, I'm leaning towards shutting it off. It nearly doubles the cost, an extra 80 bucks a month and adds a ton of work to build a community. We have a nice little nest egg to run Golmud for a bit on donations. Two servers would zap that savings quick.

Having said that, if you guys have input, wishes or offerings to change this course, then let's hear it. I'm completely open to anything. This was just an experiment that I was happy to pay for a month.

Some of you (Crit, Blunt, Burrito, moose, and others) have been trying to seed and support quite a lot. It would be rude at this point to not discuss in full detail and make a decision together.

So post up some feedback, no input could very well result in termination of services.
 
I surely prefer to only run Golmund, heck this is a great community and preferably would like to this be the #1 server in the US of A.
 
Damn, I play on that one a lot but it consistently has a low population and that steers me back to Golmud a lot (when I am not stuck in queue hell).
Golmud is life, but it's also hard to find a decent playerbase on maps like Shanghai and Hainan.

I was going to ask about the feasibility of adding maps to #2 because I like the playerbase that much.

I am also pretty darn new here and bad at the game - my input doesn't go far. I am hoping costs come down a bit as BFV becomes the new hotness (or falls flat on it's face).
Aside from consistent use, what else would be favorable for keeping it running?
 
I offer to sponsor this server completely by myself. I thought I already had offered several times. It's your decision, but I have to be honest, playing Golmud gets a little old at times.

Can't we keep it for just AARP to play? Again, clan only fun time.

Let it run a couple ore months and see what happens on my dime.

All I have to offer is deep pockets. I've been waiting for a number to pay. PM me with what you think you need.

Dont under sell yourself. Your input is appreciated. And I happen to agree on a few of those maps too.

Very generous Carp.

I enjoyed playing on the the new serve a lot. Although, Ive been busy the last week and a half and have barely played because of that. I love Golmud but I also like a change every once in a while.

I'm still all for an few AARP matches but we need more members to get on board.
 
I prefer Golmund as all of you guys know, but I do like to play other maps as well.

I was also wondering about having the amount of players fixed. I see a lot of people coming in and then leaving. Some have asked me why are we being deceitful. I usually tell them I don't know or it's some kind of glitch, since I don't really have an answer.

Well that summons it all up lets go a couple more months and see thanks Carp then they can remove the map of the Dam :)
 
Yeah the Dam map is really tough for heli's. Its a small map and a decent AA will sit back in their base and destroy anything in the air.
 
Yes, it's nice especially when you try something new like a happy ending. Will always make a big difference at home :)
 
I play it exclusively now as I just got REAL DAMN TIRED of Golmud.

I would like to see "Caspian Border" and "Dragon Pass" added.

I enjoy the crap out of that server and will likely find alternatives if its shut down. I just tire of the same freeekin damn map over an over.

Those 2 maps will be wicked to play...
 
Dragon Pass is buggy as all hell. As nice a map as it is... people will spawn without weapons, sound will randomly cut out (and requires a restart to fix), and you tend to get shot by 'invisible soldiers' (since shit doesn't load-in properly). It's a nightmare to try and play on.
 
My 2 cents... it would be great if the primary server had an option for map vote , not sure if this is even a feature, but it would be awsome to play other tank maps (Caspian Border, Firestorm, Giants of Karelia, Dragon Pass...)
