Connectivity for gaming on the go

Do any of you run connectivity intensive games like BF4 on the go? What connectivity solutions have you used successfully? I tried my gaming laptop on the road and found BF4 to be unplayable on any Wi-Fi connections one might normally use while traveling. This isn't surprising since the providers of such connections are trying to jam large numbers of users on to mediocre connections.

I'm wondering if there is anything out there like a 5G hotspot, satellite internet, gaming cafe Wi-Fi, etc. that might cater to a gamer who needs to push some serious 1's and 0's on the road.

I've successfully used cellular internet for that. Some laptops (usually business models) have SIM card slots that allow them to use cellular internet, but I just used a hotspot from my phone. Recently mobile carriers have started to disable hotspot for lower tier plans, so your plan has to support it.

That's helpful, Dan. Do any of you know if hotspot plans from cell providers come in tiers? I looked into Verizon's and it was just a yes / no either you have it or you don't.

Ive played on my laptop at the airport using hotspot of verizon and tmobile phones.

I've had to play in a hotel for some time and my hotspot worked just fine. A lot of plans only support limited hotspot usage, so if you're planning to play on the go, make sure you're plan supports unlimited usage.

So far as I know (and I'm in Canada), you have a plan with a limited amount of data, and that plan will either allow you to hotspot that data or not. I would see what your current cellphone plan has in terms of data and hotspot capabilities.
