kicked for "high ping" on bf4? Linux related?

Hello all!
I just recently got back to playing battlefield 4, partly because its one of the few FPS that has Linux support. I love playing on the server, but I'm running into a problem where I'm being kicked by admin after playing for a few minutes. I got the message before i was kicked "kicked for high ping... [didn't get to read the rest]". But looking at the server in the server browser, it look like I have normal sub 22 ping. And I made sure my VPN was off; it wasn't even running in the background.
As i mentioned, I'm not sure if this is Linux related, as ive just started using it. Does anyone else have this problem on Windows or Linux? Should I try playing on windows to see if its an issue there? And will I be banned if I continue to try to play like this? [I really like the server and don't want to risk it]

PS ive just installed punk buster today so i don't think that's the issue.

Any advice appreciated in advanced!
 
Nevermind, I found it

Playerlist 05/06/2025 11:34:46 PlayerDisconnected PurplePejorative disconnected from the server (reason: PunkBuster kicked player 'PurplePejorative' (for 0 minutes) ... This PB Server Requires (A1390 C2.351) - Error loading pbag)

You need to update your PB


And you wont get banned by pb, It will just keep kicking you till you update it.

Updating punkbuster on Linux be like

I tried updating punkbuster manually and no luck. Both through the punkbuster UI and through the pbsvc exe file. I still have hope though and Im going to look further into this. Maybe a steam installation will work (and thankfully its on sale this week).
Linux user btw

Most games don't run natively on Linux, but using what is basically a translation layer like Wine or proton, you can run it on Linux. Its not an emulator, its just taking all the windows protocols and turning them into Linux protocols. An emulator would basically be running a virtual machine.
Surprisingly, so far, I haven't had to touch the terminal once.

I had a dual boot Linux setup in the early 2000 had a handful of native games like Unreal Tournament, Heroes 3 , and Quake… Nvidia drivers were a pain to get working and when I did get everything working I couldn’t repeat it.. Things have come a long way since then

Sounds like bf4 isn't running either

As soon as you update, do a re-start on your computer. That seems to work for me. Sometimes I have to do it twice.
