Would appreciate any tips from you UCAVers out there. Red and company especially.

Cetnix and I went to silk road and got airburst. I have been trying it out, but not doing any better than just getting hits with the UCAV alone? I still have to pretty much hit the infi and there is no extra damage on vehicles. I also have a hard time exploding the airburst at the right time.

Thanks --Bop

There are a lot of really good UCAVers in AARP, so I would expect more good advice to come. My experience with airburst was that it took a lot of getting used to, like I almost had to re-learn my tactics. It's most useful when your target is behind cover and you would have to come at them almost straight down without airburst. Learning when to trigger the explosion is probably going to vary based on your hardware and internet connection. It's pretty useless with any significant lag. One good way to practice is to fly an almost flat trajectory toward an infantry target standing in the open or better yet on top of something. Aim just a little off center and try to trigger airburst as you fly by them. This will help you better understand how the timing works for you and you will get a feel for it fairly quickly.

I mainly go after chopper whores. Detonate the air burst above the rotors or in between the rotors and canopy. And for the little bird the same thing or detonate it on the side of the pilot just before impact. I like to wait till the pussies run back to base or close to base to sit down and repair and that’s when I nail them. . . It’s all about timing. You have to launch as you soon as you see them turn around and run like wussies.. lol. Launch.. kill.. and run and time it with how long the the kill cam stays on and then run a different direction. Make them see you go one way.. then reverse it and run somewhere else. The downside is you have to be deep in enemy territory. I don’t care if I die 10 times trying to get back there, it’s worth it to take out the AH. Look for vehicles that are on fire. And then hit them with a UCAv. I also have a target detector on my gun and I spot like crazy in between launching. They are also great for taking out the pussy snipers on the towers

Personally I use the airbust mainly on the vehicles and on the infantry when there are several of them, the trick with the airbus is to trigger just before and as centrally as possible of the group just at the height of the busts... But most of the time I prefer ran over the snipers it's more humiliating for them.....

I hate the UCAV (when they're on the other team), but I hate good LB pilots more (when they're on the other team). If it means Pogo will be dead for more of the match (if he's on the other team), I'm all for it.
Agreed, a good PLD & UCAV together can help the AA or non-AA lol. Powerful combo that can hold back the helis and give armor a chance to advance.

Good advice, Red! I'll try practicing this when I'm pissed at the opposing chopper pilots and can't get one of ours to go after them head to head. I have been caught like this once in the air where I got blasted out of the LB and twice on the ground while repairing, at least that I can think of in recent memory. I've changed my tactics a little and try to find better cover to repairs. Anything that would cause the UCAV to need a higher arc is good as it limits range and requires greater skill. Also when evading, it's safer to fly North-South from a UCAV perspective since they are usually lined up for East-West flight. That opens you up more to tanks and AA though. A combination of the two can throw more enemies off. Other times I just roll the dice and repair on the spot, even while sitting on flags I know aren't clear yet. In those cases, AT weapons are the biggest threat I've encountered. Then I approach it like you said. If I die, so be it. I took the chance to spend more time being more effective and sometimes it works. Best case is to have someone on board repairing so you can keep moving always.
