Two suggestions for the RC Hardcore Conquest Server

Hello mods and players, I wanted to make another suggestion that I think would improve the gameplay on the hardcore conquest server.

Suggestion 1: Disable commander mode. I dont think I ever heard everyone say they really like the commander aspect to the game. I feel it is more of a gimmick role that the devs came up with in partnership with tablet manufacturing companies such as Samsung and apple. The ability to play battlefield anywhere as a commander actually got me to buy a tablet when it was a new concept for the game before I realized it wasn't very fun, but it didnt matter, as long as samsung/apple got their money, likely giving DICE and EA a cut of the profit.

The commander mode in game is usually an annoyance for myself and the friends I have made in game. I certainly say I speak for others by saying it is nice not having random radar scans and an AC130 gunship shooting down on you.

Suggestion 2: The inclusion of ALL maps with a voting system. My favorite maps and least favorite maps are all my opinion. This server is sponsored by XtremeDiesel, and this gives him the right to have control over the choice of maps, but what this ends up coming down to is his pick in maps for what he feels is the best for the server, biased by his likes / dislikes. But as an owner of a rather popular server in a different game who carefully picked the best maps to include in the rotation without a map vote system believing it to be the best for the server was an error in judgement. Lots of players complained about this regularly and insisted I include a vote, but I disagreed believing the players would constantly pick the same 4 or 5 maps forgetting the less popular maps, so I stuck with my choice of maps in a map rotation order. If players wanted X map and we are on Y map, well too bad X map isnt coming up for 15 more rounds. I eventually gave in to public opinion and included a map vote with all maps and I noticed a happier server.

Imagine this being applied to BF4. the inclusion of all maps means everyone's favorite and least favorite maps are able to be voted on. Have we played zavod, siege, dawnbreaker, dragon valley, graveyard shift all back to back and the server wants some infantry only maps? luckily metro and pearl are on the vote list, and guess what players are going to encourage each other to vote for.. metro and pearl, just to break up the vehicle warfare. Too much infantry and land vehicles? well it's always nice to play some naval strike everyone in a while for that attack boat, island hopping action. But it only gets picked if the player base wants it depending on the mood of the server at that time.

This change for the server completely removes the bias any one player has for map rotation control and puts it into the hands of the players for a more dynamic map flow.

The vote function definitely is utilized in other servers, and will be a welcome addition to the server accompanied by all maps for players to choose from.

I feel these two suggestions will help improve the server even further, especially now that it is 24/7 conquest. To piggyback off that note, I'm happy to see my earlier suggestion a month ago about the server switching gamemodes killing the player count was well recieved by you guys, and I hope this one is too.

I like the idea of a voting system for maps. Ive seen it done and enjoyed it on other servers.

I think it was a vote of 5-6 different maps that would rotate at the end of a round to eventually include all the maps.

1. I'm sorry, maybe it's because I just woke up but I dont know what you are referring to. Map modes? inputting the wrong map from your phone? I didnt notice that. (unless i did notice it which is why we went from dawnbreaker to silk road to dawnbreaker yesterday)

2. There will always be people who like what others dislike. What matters is seeing how many people would actually miss commander mode if it were removed vs how many people would be happy see it removed. If 10 players out of 100 would miss commander mode, perhaps it would be ok to remove for the 90 that would like to see it gone. May I suggest a poll.

3. Yes, the vote map limits you to 4 or 5 (I think just 4) and it definitely wont work if the server only has 10 maps in rotation, but that was my point. The 10 maps were chosen based on what was felt to be the best of the best, and filter out the least liked maps. Well for example, myself and many others dont like Silk Road, but it's on the rotation. But this is totally fine should it be accompanied by every single other map with the ability for the players to vote for the next map. Every round offers 4 random map choices excluding recently played maps. Then players get to decide, based on how the past few rounds have went, what the next round should be like and so we may vote for locker just to spice it up.

I will strongly advocate for the all maps / vote system believe It will be a welcomed change.

4. You are absolutely right, and I am not trying to challenge that. I was simply highlighting this to help the points I was making. Ultimately it is yours and the mods decision, I just want to give my input on what I feel would be beneficial for the server as a whole for everyone.

Ya it works very well for other servers. I know it will work here as well.

The nice thing about it is it will offer 4 random maps excluding recently played maps and the choice usually makes the next map choice seem fresh.

I always see players complain too many servers are 24/7 golmud, or siege or similar. The game is too old and playerbase too small to be choosy on the map selection. Everything should be available to play and voted for if the mood for the less popular maps is right.
 
We've had a bit of a problem with Zavod. Particularly with people hiding in the uncap (like with the rocket truck), which is why it's more or less not in rotation.
 
Put the uncap rules in the game so its visible. Then if players decide to hide in the uncap, leave it to others in the game to report the rule breaking via videos or if a mod happens to be playing, he can take care of it right away. Zavod is great, definitely should be added without fear of rule breaking, along with the rest of the maps

The problem is, that people ignore the rules regardless. Like we still have people who hide in the uncap with the AA on our Golmund server, despite some of them having played on the server for months, if not longer. There's people who continue to spew racist dribble in chat, despite being kicked multiple times.

It really comes down to how much the admins want to deal with the complaints. I have nothing against Zavod myself, but obviously, it's not my call lol.

You definitely aren't wrong. But it almost punishes the honest players for the actions of the dishonest players. Because there are rule breakers, we dont have zavod. I think we can work around that.

I try real hard to give a few warnings to those, then usually an admin kill. But the racial and religious comments, I have zero tolerance and they get kicked as fast as I can respond. Put on more maps, I can handle the jobs and look forward to it.

Hardcore rules as by typing !rules

These are the Rebel Collective server rules:
1.) AA tank cannot camp on ends of map, you must engage
2.) Racial slurs are not tolerated, if used you will be kicked from game
3.) No shooting into or entering enemy base

I try real hard to give a few warnings to those, then usually an admin kill. But the racial and religious comments, I have zero tolerance and they get kicked as fast as I can respond. Put on more maps, I can handle the jobs and look forward to it.

Adding the last set of maps needs to be done slowly and monitored. Last adds pushed population from our ranking 17 to 21. Im glad to say its climbing well now. At time running through the night. The population is readjusting. Rank back to 19. If the trend continues, i'll open a discussion as to what map changes Hardcore fans would like to play.
