Led Zeppelin got their name from a joke made by The Who's drummer, Keith Moon, who remarked that a potential supergroup featuring Jimmy Page would "go over like a lead balloon". Page adopted the phrase for his new band, changing "lead" to "led" to avoid pronunciation issues and replacing "balloon" with "zeppelin".
