Was watching the BBC news today and heard an official in the UK government talking about how the police were going after the folks involved in "thuggery" after the Sunderland protests where the police were targeted by an angry mob. Have not heard this term before. Is this a unique "British" term? Like buggery?

guess by definition is
violent behavior, especially of a criminal nature.
"a cowardly act of mindless thuggery"

probably a gang, somthing like that

It's a loaded term for the US. Generally used in place of N word in some circles.
