Thats something Dice has programmed into the game I believe. The balancer also limits movement during the game. The fear is, if everyone in the game can switch and change teams, then it would be impossible to create competitive matches.
For sure, most of the time the button is still there but it just tells you "sorry you can't switch teams" when you try. It was just the first time I noticed the button wasn't even there. No biggie, I was just trying to explain to SOB that it wouldn't let me when he was asking me to switch.
Wow I've never seen that before. Usually you'd only get the "sorry you can't switch" but never actually lose the whole button.

i think the reason you dont see the switch team button is because you have to be dead in order to switch and not in a squad. so in this case you would click leave squad, then redeploy or kill yourself. Then the option to switch teams appears.
