So, I got my new faster memory card in today. A DDR3 1866MHz for AMD CPUs and it was suppose to replace my DDR3 1033MHz memory. Would not boot up.

My MoBo mentions that the faster DDR3 cards have to be O.C. so I dont know if that is a problem. Anyway, Will just go ahead and get a faster monitor anyway and see if it helps my game play. Then, maybe later getting a faster MoBo and CPU.

XMP profiles ? from motherboard to pick OC ram speed in there ( forgot the call ) / check in bios

Mine is an ASUS M5A78L-M LX series. Using a AMD3+ CPU running 6 core @3.5mhz.

I'll do a test tomorrow and see if BIOS has anything to say about the RAM. When I installed that new card nothing came up.

Most newer Asus boards have a MemOk button located near the ram slots that you can press during boot to allow compatibility on ram that might not match well.
Make sure the XMP profile matches. Start at the lowest setting...maybe 1600Mhz.

That the motherboard your spec ... * AMD FX Series CPU on this motherboard supports up to DDR3 1866MHz as its standard memory frequency.

Not sure DDR3 Motherboards support XMP Profiles. It could be that the CPU or Mobo don't actually support speeds that high.

I have DDR3 with XMP @2400Mhz and his board will support DDR3 3100 (according to the RAM Module list from Asus site) but the speed will be crippled to 1866.

Gunney, it's possible you got some bad modules or they just might not be compatible with your board. I would return it and purchase modules from a reputable vendor like Corsair or G.Skill.

Here's the link to all the modules that Asus lists as compatible with that board. ASUS M5A78L-M LX Modules

If you are looking for better gameplay then don't waste your time and money on RAM just for a few MHz as it will have next to no effect on increasing noticeable speed or FPS. The best thing you could do is have a decent GPU and monitor along (G-Sync GPU and G-Sync monitor will be your best bet) next would be an SSD or M.2 drive (500GB or more) to run the game from followed by the CPU (something running near 4GHz with 4 or more physical cores) and lastly the RAM (at least 8GB).

We will help you along the way!

Got that stick from Amazon. Came in a pink poly package only. No case of box. One of those yellow mailing packets. Wonder if it was a resale item that someone had returned and then just resold it.

Will contact Amazon for a return today.

Turn Off XMP. Also make sure you they are a pair and in the right slots. I have built many PC's and ASUS MB's are bar far the pickiest.
