Sorry boys, I was unavoidably detained for most of last week. I already mentioned the epic 2 day bash that led right into Tuesday morning. So here is the rest of the story. Still feeling shitty Tuesday morning I was heading to the shower before work when my cell phone rang. It was my adult daughter who lives in her own apartment about 3 miles from my house. When I answered the phone she was crying in hysterics. I finally got her calmed down enough to tell me what was wrong. She had a pre-work shower, slipped in her tub and according to her, broke her arm at the elbow. Got dressed and flew over there, calling in sick to my work on the way. Got her dressed and in the car and off to emerg we go. Let me say that I am married to an OR Nurse with 34 years experience, who just happened to be on vaca with her sisters on Cape Breton Island. So she is absolutely no help, and now back to reality. Arrived at emerg at 0830 and proceeded to sit there like an idiot until 1430 at which time they looked at her and sent her for an x-ray. GENIUS!! I could have done that, and saved 6 hours! They came back in at 1800 to tell us that the arm was not broken, just badly bruised on the back of the bicep where it hit the tub. GENIUS AGAIN!!! It only took 4 hours to read the goddam x-ray! So I went from, the wife gone for the week, and house to myself (with the dog), to having an injured house guest for the week. Even had to take some leave days to look after her. And that, is why I have been absent for the last week.
I have decided that I should be a doctor! I can stand there for 6 hours doing nothing and then send someone for an x-ray, then do nothing for 4 more hours and send someone home with no pain meds, telling them to take Tylenol at home. AH, that will be $10,000 please. Dam right I can do that!
Health care might be free in Canada, but it took longer than the second coming of Christ!
