In January I got hit on my left front tire by a car doing nearly 50MPH.. he missed the body.. just knocked the axle over 5"... Bent the frame less than 1/2 inch. The jeep was totaled because of the frame and axle and the busted steering box. I bought it back .. love my jeep! I am doing a Chassis swap..

Also..while i have the Body off the chassis, I will be installed more Horses.. new motor will be an LS3 L94 w/6L80E transmission.. here are pics of my RE build.

Now you are speaking my language. Make sure they slap in a decent size cooler for that 6l80 and let her eat.
Pentastars are "adequate", but a V8 will max out your smiles per gallon.

Can we expect a burnout or some sort of hooning video when she's done?

Looks like a fun project.

What's the process to get a clean title and registration in your state.

In NY its a mess. DMV needs a mechanic certification and receipt for every part that was bought. If you do it yourself you still need a receipt for every part you bought.

yes.. it is daunting.. I am following the kit design from Motech LSwranglers in Las Vegas. They have worked out the harness adapation.. all of the GM shit works with the Jeep console.. auto remote start and AC etc.. they have done some serious work.

the L94 is a truck tuned LS3.. from the escalade or Denali. same with the tranny. It is 403 Hp/ 420 ft/lbs. so more mild than a standard LS3 but will easily burn off 40" tires.. mine are just 35s.. so shouldn't be an issue :-)

this is the second LS I bought this year.. I have the LS3 with a hot cam going in my Chevelle at 500+ hp, so a little more Raw, with a truetrac rearend. trying to get the jeep done before the paint is completed on the Chevelle. Not sure what is more hard core to do, the Chevelle came to me as a basket case so there is a lot on it I have never seen put together.. full frame off Resto Mod on the Chevelle , or the jeep. the two together keep me up at night.

I had to buy a second lift to split the chassis.. using a 2 post to get the body up off the frame.

I am taking vacation next week. .the rest of the mounts, harness, fuel system, radiator (camaro and fan) are coming Friday.. and I am going to bust my balls to get it back together by July 1.

The registration in Oregon isn't too bad here. I am out of the metro ring so it makes it a bit easier here in Wine country. The great things with this kit is the GM motors can clear Emissions even in California.. so rebuilding the title won't be a problem here. stay tuned over the next couple weeks.. I will post the good, bad and the ugly.. which I hope the ugly is just me.

ps.. no explosives were used in this surgery.. Lopping shears a couple times.. fkn hoses.

LOooking forward to it. Good luck man!

That is freakin awesome that one has the knowledge to do better on a vehicle. For me I have none! Wishing that in a month could be done right or so. Best of luck!

That is awesome. I'm seriously looking at buying a Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Wish I could get it with a V8!

That's awesome. The older I get the lower my criteria for 'salvage title' gets. Frame bent? Bend/weld it back. Salt water damage? Undamage it. Blood everywhere? Well, leave it as a warning to others.

Now that she's all torn apart, now would be the perfect time to add instrumentation monitoring to it. You could add miscellaneous temp/pressure/stress/torque/flight data sensors and probes to record every aspect of its performance, and use this data to get an overall idea of potential future maintenance needs! Or just slap some KO2's on'er and take er offroading!

I just want to put in a back up camera so I can turn it on and monitor the HOT rubber coming off and spraying onto a prius. (woody)

This is what i had been doing since summer.. it is off to get it's fenders mounted and painted. I motor'd it up with a LS3 w/hot cam, 500HP. Have not yet started it.. supposed to get it back in July so I am scrambling to finish the jeep by July 1. It is a FULL Frame off, every nut and bolt turned by me, after this the jeep is a tinker toy.

13" Wildwood Front disc brakes
11" Wildwood Rear disc Big Ford Torino
UMI suspension
2" front drop
9" Currie Ford Nodular Truetrac rear end
Dakota retro programmable dash
LS3 500HP w/ 4L70 Tranny
Long Black heart headers wtih 3" tubes
Staple gate shifter
12" inch of surface adhesion in the back on American Racing resto classic rims 18"x10"
9" front tires 17"x8"
Saginaw Steering modern ratio, same as modern cars
converted from Bench to bucket seats.. I expect to do a Interior 2.0.. going stock for now

..and a Smooth firewall panel to clean up the messy factory one

I will do a daily if i can.. last night i straightened the body - fender braces. I was hit from the drivers side.. the shop said they couldn't guarantee they could straighten the FRAME and said the body could be too tweaked. It didn't see it was bad enough to not take it one myself.. just the way i am i guess.

I ordered a new frame, $2500 kaching, and now i have the body off i see i can straighten the old one :-\ after sleeping and thinking and talking to my brother (liked minded fabrication minded guy and motor head). The Frame tips were moved over 5/16 of an inch.. both of them from Drivers towards the passenger side. Knocked the axle over 5"..it drug the Body Fender frame with it by about the same 5/16" I pulled off the fenders on the body where you see it above and anchored each brace and used a come along to winch each one straight. Body is back aligned. - ez pz..

Oh.. i got the EXACT measurements for that from the new frame. I leveled the new frame to get a common plane (load pics later) and used a plumb bob and transferred the mounting locations to the concrete. Then I was able to frame/square up a drawing on the concrete to show my where the all the mounting holes are suppose to be exactly. This matched my prelim measurements of the wrecked frame. I did the same on the Red Body above.. used a plumb bob to mark the body holes to the concrete.. and the front front/fender tips. Then i could see how tweaked the body was.. not bad .. that is where i decided to anchor and winch to straighten it.

On the wrecked frame i used a long level down the sides of the frame..extended forward and measured in to see the amount the frame was pushed. All these measurements were about 5/16. the frame will take more to fix than the body for sure (hydraulics). I might look for a jeep that needs a frame and build another one with it. I have just the table to to do this too.. LOL.. I think about shit long enough i will find a way. Post jeep 2.0 topic.

You can see the green arrows on the body. this is where the fender was push under the hood by 5/16-1/2 inch.. and on the other side push out by 5-16.. subtle but visible.. ALL True now

Now i turn my attention to moving the rear end/suspension, gas tank, evac canister, brake lines, and chassis electrical harness over. Front end is being rebuilt into a new Tera flex axle.. stock was destroyed. but my gears/axles were fine. i get that back Monday/tuesday of next week
