In light of the situation some of you are going through I decided to do a test run for emergency power for my house. I have to wheel out the generator and hook up to outlet in the front garden of my house.

The only 240v circuit I have wired to the generator transfer switch is the 4ton AC. All 120v circuits are wired.

So no hot water, dryer or oven/stove when on Generator.

Here is my setup.

Honda EU7000is

Just at about 5000watts running AC, PC setup, Refrigerator, one ceiling fan and about half lights(also took this time to start labeling, not done yet)

ILL TRY TO GET A PHOTO OF MY SET UP TOO. I HAVE AN 11OOO WATT DUEL FUEL GENERATOR THAT HAS A 50 AMP PLUG WHICH I USE TO WIRE INTO MY BREAKER PANEL, IVE GOT A 50 AMP 2 POLE BREAKER AND MY HOUSE IS TOTALLY POWERED, ALTHOUGH I DONT TRY TO RUN EVERYTHING AT ONCE. I DO HAVE GAS STOVE AND WATER HEATER, SO I GET MY HOT WATER FOR SURE TO SHOWER. WHAT I DO IS TURN OFF THE MAIN BREAKER TO PANEL AND BACK FEED IT THROUGH THE 50 AMP BREAKER. MY AC WORKS, ALL MY ELECRTICAL OUTLETS WORK, EVERY LIGHT WORKS, COFFEE MAKER, AND EVEN MICROWAVE! ITS QUITE EXPENSIVE TO RUN, TAKES ALOT OF GAS AND PROPANE, BUT ITS NICE TO HAVE POWER, I SHARE WITH MY NEIGHBOR TO THEIR REFRIGERATOR TOO...IM A NICE GUY!

Woah woah there, no need to be so excited.

As for the topic of generators, I had been trying to get one where I last lived, but it just never happened. I'll probably pursue one again at a later date or somethin'.

I have an issue with the caps lock key, although it doesn't bother me, it looks like I'm talon loud...I am not for sure. What I need to know is how you put photos on here, I'm just an idiot.

Sincerely,

Nice setups guys.

My parents have a honda that helped them get through no power for 3 weeks during hurricane Sandy. Just the basics but it kept them heated. Luckily the gas lines were turned back on after a week so they have flame to cook too.

I almost bought one during the winter, it never fails during a storm my town loses power. If a dog farts on the street we lose power. I put it off and made it through 2 blizzards without losing power. XD..what did that Honda cost you if you don't mind me asking
