How cheaters stay under the radar and how stats give them away.

Hey everyone,

I found this quite interesting. This is how cheaters try to remain inconspicuous in game and how their statistics give them away. And YES, it's the same in BF4. Enjoy :)

P.S. Notice the similarities in how the players are called out and their behavior.

Dude it’s much higher but that’s a guess. With BF4 validation keys going for as little as 10 bucks US. Hackers just keep buying them so they get caught and buy another account and keep on keeping on. The only thing that can stop them is a hardware ban which used to exist for BF2. Not sure if it exists for BF4.

This is why I will never accept the excuse that a player with multiple aliases and/or accounts does not hack. Hacker behaviour to me is obvious both in numbers and in game and it never ends. I’m glad you guys take such a serious stance on this. Most server owners don’t give a shit.

Its pretty bad in BF1. Part of the reason I stopped playing BF1. The other reason is that every patch made the game more and more unplayable. Dice doesn't care either. I cant tell you how many times I was on a server that a hacker was laughing in the chat about it with no ban. Hackers getting 130+ kills a game with 5 deaths. At least the admins have much better control of their server in BF4.

Exactly why I will not buy another BF game.. If I remember correctly, BF1 doesn't allow anyone to rent a server with admin rights like you can with BF3 and 4.

If EA reverses this decision with BF 2018 then I'll buy it AFTER it releases. Not pre-ordering a damm thing from these scammers like before.

Agree 100%. Admins have neutered control of BF1 at best. I would play on a few hardcore servers, which are actually done better then they are in BF4, where you can remove all tags etc.

BF2 was my favorite. I stopped playing BF2 in around 2008 and didn't play anything until BF1 came out. Glad I picked up BF4 because I enjoy it much more than BF1. I wish they would reissue some of the original BF2 maps like wake and karkand on the BF4 engine. I know they did it in BF3 but it looks like they maps were changed just enough to make them poor revamps.

If anyone would like me to do a write up on what to look for numbers wise let me know and I will start a new thread. Exposing a hacker and convincing people to accept it is tough. There are so many hackers out there that a shift in what is accepted as normal *gifted* play has really embedded itself in BF4. Usually it's the kids who accept it as the norm and don't care to educate themselves on how hackers use the various hacks available to dominate and remain inconspicuous so they just accept it as great gaming and hop on the band wagon to shame the person making the accusation. I agree that frivolous accusations should not be made and I'll admit I've jumped to conclusions before but knowing what I know now easily allows me to go to look at a players stats and see if they are just having a good round or if indeed they are using some sort of exploit.

It's never just one single factor that makes a player a cheater, it's a combination of things that add up so when we see these turds in here asking for proof.... It's in their stats, the video footage, the amount of complaints and lastly, their overall behavior. Like many have said, their is no definitive way to prove that someone hacks so we need to do the best we can to protect the server and it's players. Like Redkilla said, it's your server and you run it how you see fit. To me the fact that hackers will rant and bitch that they can't play on your server just goes to show the extent to how entitled they feel they are. Bottom line here is that no one has the right to run off legit players just to stroke their ego and AARP admins do a pretty good job of enforcing this policy.

I would love to see you do this! Please do! I get presented information all the time on potential hackers and it is very difficult to make a decision. so this would be helpful!

In my day job, i help customers figure out how to implement AI/Machine Learning to improve their operations and analytics... I know for certain that AI/ML would help with this issue and nail cheaters, but the cost is prohibitive for now.... someday i hope.

OK lol, but I gotta warn you, it's gonna be an essay ;)

There is a section in the forums at PBBANS that only streaming admins can see. Its a section for people that have appealed their bans. They don't put all the responses in there, just the fun ones. And I can tell you I have seen "my brother did it" 100 times. Or "I was just testing them and I promise I wont do it again" PBBANS does not give 2nd chances and neither do we. Even if we wanted to we cant, we would be violating TOS. If AARP were to allow convicted cheaters in our server or our clan, they would strip us of our streaming rights.

Very True,

When I was running the TPC clan and server my partner applied to Anti Cheat Inc. for streaming admin service and unbeknownst to us we had a hacker in our clan. ACI sent us video proof of his hacking and would not allow the application to move forward until he was removed. Although he was a great guy on comms and in game we had to break it to him that he could not be in the clan due to him using cheats in another online game. And get this, he was a US Iraqi war vet with PTSD and permanent injuries. This just goes to show you that it's not just the kiddies that cheat. It can be anyone. He ended up cheating on our server and was banned shortly afterwards. It's too bad because honeslty, he was a real nice guy.
