Has anyone ever used a CPU Contact Frame for the LGA 1700 in a recent build with a 360mm AIO Cooler?

I’m in the process of building a gaming rig and I'm not too happy with Intel’s LGA 1700 ILM setup.

Intel’s CPU Independent loading mechanism (ILM) for LGA 1700 sockets are becoming problematic due to its larger and rectangular shaped CPU (IHS) leading to offset cooling.

Basically, the CPU is not lying as flat as it should be compared to the older square CPU IHS using the default Intel’s ILM system.

Keep in mind, I’m not talking about lapping or delidding the CPU IHS or using a Nitrogen setup. That’s just over the top for this basic build.

I never used one of those, but I have seen videos about them, and they work. Cool setup tho!, what do you use the 16TB of hard drives for?

Thx.

I had a 4TB for almost 6 years but it was about to give up the ghost. I was going to get a new 6TB but WD was having a sale so the 10TB won out.

Now, the 6TB is my PC backup and the 10TB is my video capture drive plus that drive is what I use to install all my games.

The only games I have installed on my NVMe SSD is BF4 and BF2042.

No experience, but that's a nice build.

Which shelter? I'll send blankets.
Thx,

I need to make some mods to the PC Case before I put it all together. Corsair had a good idea but not great. The only thing that sold me about the case was the swinging glass doors.

It's a Fallout shelter. I played Fallout 4 a few years ago and that game got me thinking.

No need to send any blankets. A cashiers check will do just fine. Keep in mind that my bank won't cash anything under $5,000. ?

Ya that 4090 is going to make your monitor explode haha mine kills all my games at 4k outside of cyberpunk and modded games with heavy ray tracing. Very nice set up it will keep you happy for many years to come unless you get black out drunk and piss on your computer but I’ll save that story for another day.

I've only heard good things about the Thermal Grizzly.

That's a lot of GPU power for a 1080P monitor. I would hope a 1440P monitor is in your future.

Oh yeah, the 4090 on the 1080p gets me Max fps. o_O

Eventually I'll get the right 1440p at a min but kinda looking at a 4K, maybe.

I already had (2) 1440p monitors before. Dell U2713H (60 Hz) and BenQ Mobiuz EX270QM (240Hz).

Some days, I have to put a bag of ice on top of the monitor to keep it from passing out from what the 4090 does to it.

One thing I found out when I got the 4090 is that it makes my original i9-9900KS CPU have serious bottleneck issues. 5 years is a long time between high-end builds.

Some monitors just can't handle “Golden Showers”. Especially under 120 Hz. ?

Look into the LG swift OLED 240hz 1440p gaming monitors. 4k is amazing but if you’re on the ground in BF or looking for targets way out yonder they are just really small and hard to spot and most of them lock you in at 120hz or 144hz but lower the image quality in return for the extra hz. Having the full 240hz unlocked maxed out will look really good on that.

1440P seems like a good balance for FPS gaming. 4K is overkill for me.

I made the switch to a 1440p 240hz monitor 2 years ago and can recommend it to anyone with somewhat modern hardware. It was easier to run than expected and the change was noticeable. I think it is the perfect mix of good-looking graphics in more story-oriented games and good performance in your try-hard fps games.
Even with some older hardware like mine, you shouldn't struggle and if needed you can always downscale for the competitive games.

I’m going to pick one up maybe tomorrow from Best Buy and if it’s a game changer I’ll stick with it.

And AGOWi is an established ground and pound whore so if it recommends it then I would do what it says.

My first 1440p monitor was a Dell U2713H at 60 Hz. I had it for about 6-7 years until 2021. I kept wondered why my vehicle reaction to mouse input was crap.

I did some research about 144 Hz and up monitors and bought a 240 Hz instead. The 240 Hz was a game changer even at 1080p which I got in 2021 and been using it since.

I found out that when I was using the 1440p, everything was so small on the screen, so I ended up using 125% scaling for the time I had the monitor.

With the 1080p, 240 Hz I use, I can see what I need to see with crazy input reaction.

I was looking at the OLED a while back and heard that the OLED has problem with screen burn-in.

The 4k @ 144 hz was a no for me. I went with a IPS monitor @ 240 Hz in 2021.

3 years of oled and so far so good. Main thing is change the image over time. If you watch CNN and you have that label it will burn in if you never turn it off. But almost all the new models just auto dim then slowly turn off if you don’t use it. IPS all day to kill, OLED and good refresh if you like colors like a moth. You will replay all your games if you switch no doubt.

for me, this game, at 75hz, all settings low, is 60 kill game(i used to do that)
