HARDCORE - "NEW TOYS" or "I need to experiment more"

OK.....Im the guy that once I glom onto something that even kinda-sorta works, I stick with it.

But the hardcore server is forcing me to try new things and I'm learning that I've left a lot of fun on the table for a long time.

Case and Point - Night maps ..... I absolutely suck at them.

But seeing as I'm playing on our hardcore server more and more, and ever 4th map is Hanger 21, I had a choice of walking away for a couple hours or figuring out how to make it fun.

I tried Recon with various rifles and scopes and my suckage just got worse. Then I got killed by an MK-11 DMR....and thought I'd try it out.

Tried multiple DMR's with FLIR and settled on the SVD-12 playing as Medic. Its now my favorite night weapon.
And tactically, as a medic, I can quickly toss a medic pack down just prior to engaging an OPFOR and have near instant heal after-action (in HC you don't heal automatically)

My most fun thing in BF4 is killing Choppers and Jets with a Tank or LAV....but last night I found my newest fun thing.

Shooting pilots and gunners out of choppers!
I got 6 last night and I was grinning ear-to-ear each time. I got the pilot and the parachuting gunner in one engagement and was totally stoked!

Hardcore has been a real revelation in adjusting my game play.

I just wish all lock-on's could be disabled so it was really HARDCORE. Then just individual talent would prevail, not meep meep meep radar kills.

But Yeah....I gotta experiment more.
 
I may have to check out the DMRs.

I've only been using Flir on the hardcore server.

Nice job on sniping guys our of the air. Thats really tough.
 
My DMR are so slow then when I get killed by them I swear I am like no freakin way! They when I shoot those suckers ain't even close to what it appears like with what they killed me.

Actually, I sniped some one out of the big bird it was awesome.

It's quite doable. I've even shottie'd someone out of a LB... once. There's a lot going on. Need to know where the pilot is, where they're headed, bullet travel time, and so on. It's easiest on the Littlebird, with that giant glass dome. You can hit Attack Chopper pilots too, but the windows are significantly smaller.

My success has been with transports only so far. Got one LB repair guy, but that was like snagging a salmon with a hook through its tail..... pure luck.

But still fun as hell

What happened I was West of Charlie and the Havoc was hoovering over vagina rock, so I said to myself let me try and I saw hit markers and boom dead amazing!!
