Gunney's video of his time on a detroyer

At 3:45 we where traveling in heavy wind and seas. The bow would dig into a wave and throw green water up high and it would land up on the signal bridge where I was stationed.

At 6:50 we are leaving San Diego bay and the USS Bunker Hill is on left side. It's keel was broken by a Kamikaze strike during WW2. Could not be used anymore so they used it as a training ship.

The flying drone helo was caleed a DASH (drone anti submarine helo). It was used to drop torpedoes on subs that were too far away.

This was the last cruise that my ship was on. It was decommissioned in 1971. There is a sister ship still around in Patriots Point South Carolina close to where LowCountry lives. USS Laffey DD-724. I have visited it twice.
