Dorian, How did everyone make out?

I haven't seen a thread on how everybody made out with the big storm, so I thought I would check in and see. I hope everyone got through unscathed, and everyone is safe. It is 0800 here in Halifax Nova Scotia and Dorian is on his way to visit as a category 2. The worst of the storm is supposed to be here by 2000. The eye is going to pass directly through the city so hopefully everybody is ready. We seem to have an outstanding power system as detailed by the CEO of Nova Scotia Power, so I fully expect power to be off-line for 1 day to 1 week, and I live in the heart of the city. They just suck! I do have chain saws and plenty of storm beer so we will be good. First the saw and then the beer, unless I am already loaded, then a nap and saw afterwards. Don't want to be known as Stumpy. Well, better go and lash down the rest of my shi...stuff.

Hey look, it's starting to rain.

Best of luck.

Currently its barely a Cat 1 with 80mph sustained winds. Its also moving really really fast NE at 25MPH. You've probably dealt with more powerful Nor' Easters.

Luckily all Long Island got was some good surf and a little rain. Surf is working out really well for the pro contest that's in town.

I am back! I was sitting in the shed enjoying storm beer on Saturday when the power went out at 1609. Just got it back early this morning, woke up to the news channel talking about the hurricane. So, all in all it wasn't the end of the world as predicted. Lots of rain, lots of wind, lots of trees blown over, 400,000 power customers without, and 1 toppled construction crane. My place had about 3 inches of water in the bsmt, no power no sump. Mostly cleaned up now, so good to go. While I was sitting in my dark shed having post storm beer, I vowed that I would not go through this shit again, so I am installing a generator hookup, and getting a generator with enough wattage to light up half my block. I will have this in place before the snow flies this fall. WARM POST STORM BEER REALLY REALLY BLOWS!

Hope everyone else affected by the storm is safe and doing okay. The Bahamas could sure use some love and assistance now.
