Hello, I have had an issue with battlefield where the game stutters while I play it but the game doesnt lag. All other players and vehicles and sounds are normal. It might be related to my frame rate because sometimes it drops but other times the framerate does not drop and I still have this issue. So that is why I do not believe it is a frame rate issue.

It all started after I reformatted my ssd and hard drive after I got a virus. I reinstalled everything and all works fine except for battlefield like I stated above. Other games like CSGO or Cities Skylines do not have any issues. I have tried looking at my graphic card drivers and mouse drivers all of which say are up to date. I have used a different mouse. Edited settings to disable Enhance Pointer Precision. I have talked with Origin tech support and deleted possible corrupted origin files.I have turned origin off in game. I have downloaded software for the mouse to add more fine control.I have tested internet speeds. I have shut off xbox live and nvideo video overlay's and any unwanted programs running. I have caped my frame rate at 72 because my monitor is rated for 60. (72 optimum for performance according to friend). I have re installed Battlefield 4 and of course I have restarted my computer countless times. I have also reinstalled origin. At this point I am at a loss... Origin tech support isnt much help either. Please help!
I will list my specs as well as a link to a video as well as a picture of speed test.

Any solutions would be appreciated. I am willing to live chat via audio/ or live messaging or simply post here.
Thanks....

lol good to hear hahaha I shall await their arrival :) I can provide services to the first tech person to solve this issue.

try limiting your frame rate to 60 or maybe 59. I think refresh rate is the practical limit anyways.

One problem I had work another game was the mouse software. Might be something with that.

hmmmmm..what kind of services???

I think I know what is it. Its the latest Nvidia drivers. This happened to me after updating to the latest drivers. I would get tons of micro freezes. I had a 1080ti so it was definitely not the card.

Downgrade to drivers from a few months ago. I did and everything went back to normal.

There are lots of posts about this and the new drivers on causing issues with BF4 on reddit.

Good luck.

Sometimes you can go to the video card driver and roll them back. This may not be possible if its part of a fresh install.

This is how to rollback drivers:

You can find older drivers here:

Yeah my drivers are running like crap lately

Reinstalled them this morning

At this point driver updates have a better chance of fucking things up for BF4 rather than making them better. There are no driver tweaks that are currently being worked on for older games like this one. The tweaks are all about thew newer games.

Hold on - that's your damn mouse.

Post a picture of your mouse and desk - it is wireless? the surface your mouse rides on is important.
Could be as simple as batteries too - NiCads especially.
Do you have another mouse or trackpad hanging around, but still plugged in?

Okay all I have fixed the issue! Thanks to all who replied. A complimentary blowy is in store for all of you ;) or a $5 monopoly money.

I ended up re updating my graphic card driver to the current state and using the Nvidia control panel and went to "Manage 3D Settings-> program settings-> added bf4-> scrolled down to Power management mode-> Set to Prefer Maximum performance.

So far this has fixed the issue. I played in one of our hardcore servers for 5 minutes with no issues. I will test more to ensure that this issue is resolved. If I have more issues I will make a reply here. Once I determine tonight that it is fixed we can close the post or what ever you guys do once an issue is resolved haha.

Thanks a again everyone for your troubleshooting ideas. I have spent 8+ hours trying to figure this out and I felt like a single man without the wonderful battlefield in my life to let me know I can still tbag noobs. See you all out there on the battlefield.

hahaah I have recently dusted the whole system about 4 months ago. I also have the fans clocked to run at 40% power to keep core temp of graphic card at around 28-50 degrees C depending on what game I am running.

I notice that yesterday video card was kind of iffy roll it back you should be ready to play. Good luck!
