I am more comfortable on the giving side of Christmas than the receiving end. But this Christmas I am asking for something from all of you if you would be so kind. I ask that you help someone, anyone less fortunate than yourself. Help an elderly person cross the street. Give a homeless person a few bucks or better yet buy them a meal. Volunteer your time to a charity. Do anything you feel comfortable doing to lend a helping hand. Trust me, you will be rewarded 1000 fold.
What prompted me in asking for this was what happened just 1 hour ago. I usually stop at the grocery store around the corner from our house when Karen ask's me to pick up a few items on my way home from work. I was standing in the checkout line and a woman in here late 20's in front of myself and another customer was getting her total. She had 1 infant, and one about 4 years old with her. She had diapers, formula, and a few groceries. The cashier gave her the total and she opened her purse and was about $15.00 short. She kept searching her purse but she didn't find any more money. She started to put back some of the food items in favor of making sure the children had what they needed. The person behind her and directly in front of me said "If you can't pay please get out of line so that I may check out". That pissed me off. I've shopped that store for 20 years and they know me. At that point I handed my credit card to the cashier and said "put everything on this".
The person that asked her to get out of line looked at me and said your crazy. I said I must be because I would have done the same for you had you not had enough money. It's Christmas. Your supposed to be kind.
Image if each of us helped just one person what a wonderful world this would be.
