I was brought to tears this evening when I heard the news that John McCain had passed away. He was truly a man for the ages. A man of valor. A man of truth. After surviving Vietnam and the Hanoi Hilton he continued to serve his country in the United States senate. The only battle he lost was with cancer.

Today America lost one of it's greatest heroes.

May he rest in peace.

I'm a policy guy so therefore neither republican or democrat but John McCain was a true republican who even went against his own party to stay true to his beliefs. It's a sad day for many Americans.

Wish I could agree.....

I'm completely his opposite on the political spectrum but at least he was a stand up, honorable guy. he probably could have won the presidential election with deplorable tactics but he rejected that.

also, serving his country for 60 years, or even a small fraction of that, is admirable regardless.

This thread is meant to honor a man who served our country with honor. Being blinded by politics is no reason to disrespect the man and his life.

exactly.

being taken by brain cancer is a horrible way to go. I feel for his family.

I certainly don't agree with what he's done, I even oppose a lot he's stood for. However, that doesn't mean that he didn't serve his country, and he deserves respect for that alone. Additionally, you should never spit on the grave of someone who died. Doesn't matter how much you may hate/dislike them, death (especially from cancer) is a terrible thing.
