https://www.pcgamer.com/amp/ea-is-offering-ten-hours-of-battlefield-5-or-whatever-for-free/

A couple of things to note: The offer is only available for 24 hours, so you've got until roughly 9 am ET on December 1 to claim it, and you'll probably have to wait for a reply. I DM'ed the hashtag at around 1:45 pm ET, and received a response at 4 pm, because instead of using an automated system Origin reps are answering each request individually.
When you do receive a reply, you'll be given a PC-only code to enter into the Origin app. Click the Origin drop-down, then "redeem product code," and copy/paste it in. In return, you'll get a "7 Day Non-Recurring Membership" to Origin Access Basic.
Happily, that means you don't have to sign up and then cancel once the free period is over: After you confirm the code, you'll get a message saying that if you want to continue with the service after it expires, you'll need to either sign up or purchase another block of time.

If I get the 10 hours ill play it and see if I like the guns or not. Thats the big factor for me.

I havent swapped out my i5 for the i7 yet.

I saw used I7 8700k's with starting bids around $200 on ebay just the other day. But I decided, once I get to Texas, Im going to get an I9-9900

I've seen new 8700k's for as little as 339, but the cheapest I can find this morning is $549

What chipset is your mobo?

It looks like the time ran out about 2 hours ago. Im out on the far left coast in the Socialist Republic of Kaliforina

The offer is only available until 9:48 a.m. EST on Dec. 1

Those are cheap. Chipset and Motherboard are good question that I don't have an answer to.

My brother in law, as part of his job, builds custom rigs for people. The i7 and mobo was leftover from a customer who didnt want it. So, my brother in law is giving it to me. All I have to do is get some DDR4 ram and do the swap.

I think I applied in time. They posted when it ended and said if you DMed them before the end tweet they would still get a code to you. I guess Ill find out soon

I build my own computers (and my kids and my grandkids computers too) so I tend to have a bunch of "stuff" piling up from time to time too. I'll probably sell my MOBO, CPU, and RAM when I upgrade later as its relatively good gear. (Asus P9X79 Deluxe Mobo, intel I7-3960 Extreme CPU, and 32GB of Gskill ram.

I Love having 6 cores and 12 threads but now I want to try out 8 cores and 16 threads along with DDR4 and USB 3.1 with its 10gb throughput.

Its definitely fun to build your own rig. Last time I bought a desktop was a shitty dell in 2005 that shit the bed with a mobo hardware failure 15 months after I got it.

Seems the newer games are really taking advantage of the extra core so thats a smart idea.

Ever think of trying the Ryzen chips?

Since I’m twitter impaired I’ll just buy it at some point

I had to remember the password to an old account.

I hate twitter, but then I realized we curate everything we want to see on twitter so really I hate what Ive created.

My processor has little effect on my FPS verses a new Video card.. but I always end up getting a fresh Intell every 4 years or so video cards sooner .. I used to run VMs but don’t mess around with those as much anymore so I’ll probably stick to the I7 over a I9 although the idea of having that much power is nice I’ll just not use it.. BFV is just fine on my current rig.. too bad it’s not very polished

I've never had twitter, myspace, snapchat, instagram, or whatever the hell else. I did have facebook for a very short time to communicate with our son when his unit would return to his FOB at Spin Boldak. He was with the 504th MIB and attached to the 2-38th CAV in Afghanistan. But I dropped it after his deployments were over.

In short, I'm social media impaired.

You're probably better off. It's a black hole that wastes time.
