Ok, Need you guys to vote, do we leave the server where its at or change or to 30,40 or 60 Hz. Remember, this is an added cost.

Explanation--How frequently the server send updates to you. If the tickrate is 10 Hz, you receive 10 times per second packets. If the tickrate is 30 Hz, you receive 30 times per second packets. However increasing the server's tickrate does not fix the whole "net code" problem.
Tick rate refers to the amount of times a server performs gameplay-related calculations each second. With a Battlefield server, one of the many calculations performed during each tick is hit detection; this is usually what people are referring to when they complain about tick rate.
It's important not to confuse this with the update rate, which is the amount of times a server sends gameplay information (updates) to your client each second. There is also a command rate, which is inversely, how often your client sends its information (commands) to the server.
The recent update included two major changes to the network settings:

    • Ability for players to set their own update rate (within the hi-frequency bubble)
    • Tweaks to network smoothing delays (interpolation)

Ultimately these changes result in reduced latency to the server, about 90ms less according to DICE's tests. Nothing has actually changed in regards to tick rate, and so directly, hit detection should not have changed. Indirectly, you will likely find the hit detection to be more responsive due to the latency reduction.

I vote 60Hz. It's the smoothest and will allow for the best hitreg. However, if a good amount of our players can't run 60FPS consistently I understand a lower tickrate. I'm up for whatever, but the higher the better for me.

I vote to leave it on 30Hz simply because I'm sure we have players that are not able to keep a constant 60FPS and have latency issues because of distance from server.

I would hope that our members are playing above 30FPS? Maybe 40Hz would be a good middle ground?
